Boy Scout Rank Requirements Effective January 1, 2008 (11/28)
National
Adds "MyScouting"
Portal for Scouters
"MyScouting" will be the portal for our members that will provide access
to the following resources:
E-Learning
The E-Learning Course Management System provides a selection of courses for adult
volunteers that may be taken for credit. E-learning will be integrated into each
member's account.
Rechartering
Internet Rechartering is our Web-based system for annual unit renewal. It is
available to Traditional units in the Grand Teton Council. Instead of a link
for Internet Recharter, MyScouting will be the link to do your Internet
Recharter
process in the year 2008
Advancement
Internet Advancement is a Web-based system for units to submit youth member ranks
and awards. It is available to all units in the Grand Teton Council. Instead
of a link just for Internet Advancment, MyScouting will be the link in the near
future.
My Account
Members will have direct access to their account data, enabling them to update
or make corrections at any
time to keep our records accurate.
Create your account here: http://www.scouting.org/nav/enter.

... And More!
After the initial launch of the "MyScouting" portal, we will continue
to work on additional applications and services that will support and enhance
our members as they administer and experience the Scouting program.
Tour Permit Applications
In the future, Adult leaders will be able to apply for tour permits that will
automate the approval process and provide for prompt electronic delivery of approved
permits. The applicant will need to provide detailed information about tour destination;
dates; itinerary; participation and leadership; transportation plans (including
vehicle information, drivers' license numbers, and insurance coverage); and the
training certifications for Youth Protection and any other course needed for
the tour.
It’s finally here……

Boy Scout Rank Requirements Effective

The
National Youth Protection Committee recommended
additions to Boy Scout rank requirements that
were approved and will become effective January
1, 2008. These changes will help us advance
the importance of Youth Protection training
beyond the initial Boy Scout joining requirements,
and keep youth informed and actively engaged
in understanding the key elements of personal
safety and protection.
Tenderfoot
Rank
Revised requirement 9:
Explain the importance of the buddy system as it relates
to your personal safety on outings and in your neighborhood.
Describe what a bully is and how you should respond
to one.
Second
Class Rank
New requirement 8b:
Explain the three R's of personal safety and protection.
First
Class Rank
New requirement 12:
Describe the three things you should avoid doing related
to use of the Internet. Describe a cyberbully and how
you should respond to one.
The
changes will be represented in the2008 Boy

ninth printing of the 11th edition of the Boy
Scout Handbook.

Currently, forty-nine Eagle projects have been approved for scouts that have
not submitted an Eagle application. Two Eagle applications are waiting for
a Board of Review. We also have three applications in Fort Smith for approval
prior to the Board of Review.
Please encourage your Life Scouts to be prepared for the Board of Review.
They should know the history of Scouting and understand Scout spirit as it
applies to their daily life.
Along with the Eagle application we must also receive a photograph of the face of the applicant. All materials submitted should be COMPLETE and neatly presented in a way that exhibits the applicant is seeking the highest honor of the Boy Scouts of America. Poorly presented materials will be rejected and the scout will be asked to re-submit them.
The Life to Eagle information at www.razorbackscouts.org has been revised. All Life Scouts who are contemplating beginning Eagle work should go here FIRST. The information is located on the “Resources” page and there is also a link to this information off the home page. This should be the only source of forms and information that the Life Scout needs to complete the district portion of the Eagle requirements. Most forms are interactive and can be completed using your computer, rather than hand-writing them.
The Eagle applications, Eagle Projects, and letters of recommendation should be sent directly to me. I can be reached at 631-0100 or correspondence at John Blair, 109 N 34th St., Rogers, AR 72756
